An initiative of Earthwatch Institute

Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens

Participate in ClimateWatch, a national Citizen Scientist climate-monitoring program from Earthwatch Australia and contribute valuable research data supported by a number of botanic gardens and a network of green spaces across Australia.

Participants record the seasonal behaviours they see in selected species. It is both web and app based and requires monitoring of species selected by GCRBG Friends. The programme has the potential to reach outside the gates and engage a wider community with other species commonly grown on the Gold Coast but not held in the Gardens Plant Collection. Field guides and recording sheets can be downloaded and printed, or alternatively picked up from the Friends Centre located at the Gardens.

Visit the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens, collect a species field guide, and a recording sheet from the Friends/Information Centre and walk the ClimateWatch trail.

Also keep an eye out for Friends Guided Walks of the ClimateWatch trail.

Want to walk the trail again? Download a species field guide and recording sheet from this page to mark your observations. Remember to enter all your observations into the ClimateWatch website when you get back to a computer.

The trail can be explored for short or long walks, it's up to you. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen, and have some water with you.
