A welcome to the new ClimateWatch manager

January 29, 2014

ClimateWatch is delighted to announce the appointment of Linden Ashcroft as the new Program Manager commencing January 20th 2014. Her key role will be to facilitate and expand the community engagement and scientific outcomes for the program.

Linden recently completed her PhD at The University of Melbourne, exploring historical climate records for southeastern Australia. Using old weather observations hidden in libraries, archives, old newspapers and diaries, Linden's thesis reconstructed the climate of southeastern Australia back to European settlement in 1788. This extended climate record reveals previously unexamined temperature and rainfall variations in Australia’s past, providing important new information for future climate change research.

Linden also holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Diploma of Arts (English) from The University of Melbourne and a Graduate Diploma in Science Communication from Australian National University (ANU). During her time at ANU, Linden was part of Questacon's travelling Science Circus, where she shared her love of science (and slime!) with school children all over Australia.

Before joining ClimateWatch, Linden served in various research and science communication positions. She has also been actively involved in community-based mentorship and engagement with teachers and students at both the primary and tertiary level.

Earthwatch welcomes Linden to the team and wish her success in her newly appointed role.
