Living on the Edge - Help us raise funds for the White Lemuroid Ringtail Possum

Together with Edge Pledge, Earthwatch is raising funds this September to support Australian wildlife on the brink of extinction.

Earthwatch’s Chief Executive Officer, Cassandra Nichols, has used the unique Edge Pledge online ‘challenge generator’ and it has chosen three crazy dares for her to perform and you to vote on!

If you would like to see Earthwatch’s CEO climb Victoria’s highest peaks (Mt Bogong, Mt Feathertop and Mt Nelse), or dress up as a leafy green tree and ride Melbourne’s train to and from work, or live by candlelight for a week, then you need to vote!

Your votes will be tallied and the challenge with the greatest response will be performed. Click here to put Cass on the edge!

The White Lemuroid Ringtail Possum lives in mature, high-altitude cloud rainforest above 450 metres. These possums numbered in their thousands until a heat wave struck in 2005, and numbers were decimated with the initial belief they had been entirely wiped out.

Fortunately, this Lazarus creature was rediscovered in 2009, but has only been spotted five times in the last decade. The White Lemuroid Ringtail Possum is a species being directly impacted by climate change as rising temperatures are forcing them out of their homes.

But YOU can help protect them. YOU can make a difference!

If you are lucky enough to spot the highly rare White Lemuroid Ringtail Possum or the more common Brown Lemuroid Ringtail Possum, please record your sighting here and add to our ClimateWatch database.
